Pratik Gandhi received a call from a man in Hong Kong a few days earlier. The caller claimed to be a former Harshad Mehta student who had recently watched Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, the 2020 Web series that made Gandhi famous. In the drama, which premiered on Sony LIV, the actor portrayed a late stockbroker. “He told me he was nervous about seeing the show since he had seen Harshad up close and personal. But after five or six minutes, he had completely forgotten about the genuine guy. For him, I was Harshad Mehta,” he says, clearly overwhelmed and still pleasantly surprised by the appreciation that keeps coming his way, even after seven months of the show’s release.
